Scene is winning the Diwali weekend fight. The Suriya film made ₹20.25 crore net in India on Saturday 7 November, as per Sacnilk. That is Day 2. Day 1 had made ₹19.15 crore. So Day 2 grew 5.7%.
The film ran on 5,687 shows. Halls were 62.5% full. About 14.99 lakh tickets were sold. Tamil made ₹16.50 crore from 4,324 shows. Telugu made ₹3.75 crore from 1,363 shows.

₹80 crore worldwide in 2 days
Scene’s 2-day numbers are strong. India net is ₹39.40 crore. India gross is ₹45.75 crore. Overseas is ₹35.75 crore. Add India gross and overseas and the worldwide gross is ₹81.50 crore.
The film crossed ₹80 crore worldwide in 2 days. Day 2 alone added ₹18 crore from overseas. The Times of India reports that Scene has beaten Vishwanath and Sons in global earnings. The Economic Times reports that this is Suriya’s third hit in a row in 2026.
Head-to-head: Scene vs Mookuthi Amman 2
Both films released on the same day, 6 November. After 2 days, the gap is wide.
| Scene | Mookuthi Amman 2 | |
|---|---|---|
| Day 1 India net | ₹19.15 cr | ₹1.88 cr |
| Day 2 India net | ₹20.25 cr | ₹2.45 cr |
| 2-day India net | ₹39.40 cr | ₹4.33 cr |
| 2-day worldwide | ₹81.50 cr | ₹5.00 cr |
| Day 2 shows | 5,687 | 1,910 |
| Day 2 occupancy | 62.5% | 31.7% |
Scene leads by ₹35.07 crore in India net. Worldwide, the lead is ₹76.50 crore. The shows tell the same story. Scene had nearly 3 times as many shows on Day 2, and its halls were twice as full.
Mookuthi Amman 2 did grow on Day 2. It made ₹2.45 crore, up 30.3% from Day 1’s ₹1.88 crore. Tamil made ₹2.30 crore from 1,698 shows. Telugu made ₹15 lakh from 212 shows. But growth from a small base is still small. The film needs much more to survive.
The Telugu version is the weak spot for both films. Scene’s Telugu share is ₹3.75 crore out of ₹20.25 crore on Day 2, about 1 in 5 rupees. Mookuthi Amman 2’s Telugu share is even smaller: ₹15 lakh out of ₹2.45 crore. Tamil Nadu is where both films live. The Telugu shows are a bonus, not the base.
Mookuthi Amman 2 has a budget problem
Mookuthi Amman 2 reportedly cost about ₹115 crore to make. Reports say it needs about ₹65 crore in theatrical share to break even. That share figure is reported but unverified. Theatrical share is the part of the ticket money that comes back to the makers.
After 2 days, the film’s India gross is only ₹5 crore. Overseas numbers are not yet reported by Sacnilk. At this speed, the film is far from its break-even mark. It would need a miracle week to get close.
The film is directed by Sundar C. Nayanthara plays a dual role. Regina Cassandra, Urvashi and Yogi Babu are also in it.

Why Scene is pulling ahead
Three things are working for Scene. First, Suriya is on a run. Three hits in a row in 2026 means fans trust his films now. Second, the word of mouth is good. Day 2 grew instead of falling, which is rare for a Friday release. Third, the film has the shows. With 5,687 shows and 62.5% occupancy, it has both reach and demand.
Mookuthi Amman 2 has a known star too. Nayanthara is a big name. But the film opened small and stayed small. Its Day 2 occupancy was 31.7%. That means 2 out of 3 seats were empty.
What to watch next
Sunday is Diwali day. Scene should have its biggest day yet. If it makes ₹22–25 crore today, its India net will cross ₹60 crore in 3 days. Mookuthi Amman 2 needs to hold its shows. If halls cut its shows on Monday, its run will end fast.
