Three men fired at Tiger Shroff in Juhu on Sunday evening and were caught at Kota on Monday morning — 24 hours, three states, one jammed gun and a single phone call that broke the chase. Here is how the police rebuilt their trail, and why the two men whose gang keeps claiming these attacks sit beyond Mumbai Police’s reach.

Quick Read
- The shooters switched off their phones right after the firing. But one call — to a cab driver — gave the police the first real break in the chase, the Indian Express reported. Fifteen police teams worked the case in Mumbai before the Rajasthan Anti-Gangster Task Force joined the catch at Kota.
- The escape trail ran across three states: bike to Andheri station, a local train to Borivali, a cab to Surat in Gujarat, then the Pune-Jaipur Superfast Express toward Kota. The men were allegedly planning to reach Delhi and cross into Nepal.
- The shooters had done a dry run a week earlier — Tiger Shroff skipped football that Sunday, the Indian Express reported. The social media claim that the Lawrence Bishnoi gang ordered the firing is unverified.
- Lawrence Bishnoi sits in Sabarmati Central Jail in Gujarat and his brother Anmol in Delhi’s Tihar Jail. A Home Ministry order under Section 303 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita bars them from being taken out of jail — Mumbai Police can only question them inside prison, with a court’s permission.
The firing took seconds. The chase took a day. And the legal wall around the case’s two most famous names has stood for years. To understand the Tiger Shroff case, you have to follow three separate threads: the trail, the gang claim, and the custody question.
The phones go dark — then one call breaks the case
The first thing the shooters did after firing at Tiger Shroff’s SUV was switch off their phones. Dead phones mean no live location, no call records, nothing to triangulate.
So the police worked backwards the hard way. Fifteen teams were formed in Mumbai. Officers pulled CCTV footage from around Pushpa Park in Juhu, collected ballistic evidence from the spot, and started mapping the escape — frame by frame, camera by camera.
The break came from an ordinary call. The shooters needed a cab for one leg of their escape, and that single call to a cab driver gave the police their first real lead, the Indian Express reported. From there, the trail rebuilt itself: the booking, the pickup point, the destination.

A dry run a week earlier
This wasn’t the shooters’ first visit to the Juhu football ground. They had come for Tiger Shroff a week earlier too — but he skipped football that day, the Indian Express reported.
Police sources told NDTV that the men had monitored the actor’s weekly routine. Tiger regularly visited the Juhu football ground on Sundays, and the shooters timed the attack for the moment he was leaving the venue. Investigating agencies suspect they were trained shooters who had done a recce of his movements before the attack, ANI reported.
A dry run plus a recce plus a planned escape route is not a spontaneous crime. It points to planning — and planning points to someone who paid for it. Police sources told TBS News the three were paid Rs 50,000 collectively for the attack.
The escape map: Juhu → Andheri → Borivali → Surat → Kota
Addressing a press conference on Monday evening, Raj Tilak Roushan, DCP (Detection) of the Mumbai Crime Branch, laid out the trail:
1. Juhu to Andheri — after firing five rounds (one gun jammed), the three fled on a bike to Andheri station.
2. Andheri to Borivali — they boarded a local train to Borivali in Mumbai.
3. Borivali to Surat — from Borivali, they took a cab to Surat in Gujarat.
4. Surat to Kota — they boarded a train for Kota, and were arrested aboard the Pune-Jaipur Superfast Express when it reached Kota at 10:17 am on Monday.
Three states in under 24 hours: Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan.
And there was a next step. Kota SP Tejaswani Gautam said the accused were planning to travel to Delhi from Jaipur, and then to Nepal.
The Nepal plan — and why it failed
Fleeing to Nepal is a classic move in Mumbai crime cases. The open border, the cheap buses, the anonymity of Kathmandu’s backstreets — it has sheltered fugitives for decades. The shooters’ alleged plan (Delhi, then Nepal) suggests someone had thought this through.
It failed for one simple reason: speed of coordination. Mumbai Police shared the trail with Rajasthan Police overnight, and the Kota team — the Anti-Gangster Task Force plus city police plus the Railway Police Force — was waiting at the station. The arrest happened in the general coach, before the men could change trains.
Why Mumbai Police can’t touch the Bishnoi brothers
Now the third thread — and the one that will outlast this case.
A social media post claimed the Lawrence Bishnoi gang ordered the firing. Police have not verified it. But even if evidence does point to the gang, Mumbai Police face a legal wall: they cannot get physical custody of Lawrence Bishnoi or his brother Anmol.
Here is why, step by step. Lawrence Bishnoi is lodged in Sabarmati Central Jail in Ahmedabad, Gujarat; Anmol Bishnoi is in Delhi’s Tihar Jail, deported from the US in November 2025 and arrested by the NIA. In August 2023, the Union Home Ministry issued an order under Section 268 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, barring Lawrence from being taken out of jail for any purpose — extended in August 2024 and renewed annually since under Section 303 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), which replaced the CrPC. A similar one-year order covers Anmol since December 5, 2025. Section 303 lets the government prevent a prisoner from being removed from jail, overriding court production orders; the stated reason is public order and security.
It has blocked Mumbai Police before. In 2024, the crime branch approached the Home Ministry for Lawrence’s custody in the firing outside Salman Khan’s residence, and later in the Baba Siddique murder case. Both brothers are named as wanted accused in Mumbai chargesheets, but neither has been made part of the cases being heard in Mumbai courts.
Investigators can seek a court’s permission to question the brothers inside their prisons. But that is very different from physical custody — no transit, no controlled movement, and no way to confront an accused with evidence gathered across jurisdictions, as Mathrubhumi’s analysis put it.
Neither brother has been named as an accused in the Tiger Shroff case so far, Outlook reported.

The question Priyanka Chaturvedi raised
The custody wall has now become political. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi posted on X: “The larger question about the Lawrence Bishnoi gang should be that how is it possible that a man behind bars in Gujarat’s Sabarmati Jail continues to wield so much power outside of it?”
Her question cuts to the real issue. The US indictment and earlier NIA allegations refer to smuggled phones and encrypted communication devices reaching Bishnoi in prison. His lawyer says he is in solitary confinement under continuous CCTV surveillance. Investigators say contraband devices and intermediaries have kept the network alive, Mathrubhumi reported.
In the Tiger Shroff case, investigators are examining whether the alleged handler Anil Pandit offered money to the shooters and promised to send one of the accused abroad, Mathrubhumi reported. Whether that thread leads to the brothers — and whether the prison walls can hold it back — is now the central question of the investigation.
Security stepped up at Bollywood homes
While the investigation runs, Mumbai Police have stepped up security at the homes of Salman Khan, Aamir Khan and filmmaker Rohit Shetty, the Indian Express reported. Tiger Shroff himself has been given police protection, and the case now sits with the Anti Extortion Cell of the Crime Branch.

FAQ
### Why can’t Mumbai Police get Lawrence Bishnoi’s custody?
Because a Union Home Ministry order — first issued in August 2023 under Section 268 of the CrPC, now renewed annually under Section 303 of the BNSS — bars him from being taken out of Sabarmati Central Jail. A similar one-year order covers Anmol Bishnoi in Tihar since December 5, 2025. Mumbai Police can question them inside prison with court permission, but cannot take physical custody.
### What is Section 303 of the BNSS?
It is the provision (replacing Section 268 of the old CrPC) that lets the central or state government stop a prisoner from being removed from jail, overriding court production orders. The government cites public-order and security reasons.
### Has Tiger Shroff been given police protection?
Yes. The Indian Express reported that Shroff has been provided police protection, and security has been stepped up at the homes of Salman Khan, Aamir Khan and Rohit Shetty. The case is now with the Anti Extortion Cell of the Mumbai Crime Branch.
For now, the Anti Extortion Cell has three shooters in custody and a trail that runs from Juhu to Kota. The two brothers whose gang claims every attack stay where they are — behind a ministry order, inside two of India’s most guarded prisons.
