Quick Read

  • Day 16 (Oct 30): ₹5.50 crore net in India, across 8,079 shows, per Sacnilk.
  • Totals after Day 16: India net ₹435.40 crore, India gross ₹509.45 crore, overseas ₹267.50 crore, worldwide ₹776.95 crore.
  • The film is now ₹23.05 crore short of ₹800 crore worldwide — our own calculation from the Sacnilk worldwide total.

Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, released in theatres on October 15, 2026, in Tamil, Hindi, Kannada and Telugu. It’s now in its third week. Friday’s number is a small dip from Thursday, but the film is still pulling crowds in its third weekend.

Sacnilk puts Day 15 at ₹6.25 crore net. Day 16’s ₹5.50 crore is 12% lower than that. The drop is small for a third-week Friday, and it came with fewer shows than the opening week. The film played 8,079 shows on Day 16, against more than 16,000 shows on Day 1.

Day 16 in numbers

Tamil led again on Friday. It earned ₹3.75 crore net from 3,796 shows. Hindi followed with ₹1.00 crore from 3,310 shows. Telugu added ₹55 lakh from 799 shows, and Kannada added ₹20 lakh from 174 shows. Those four language figures add up to the ₹5.50 crore day total.

Overseas, the film earned ₹3 crore on Day 16. That pushed its overseas gross to ₹267.50 crore. Add the India gross of ₹509.45 crore, and you get the worldwide gross of ₹776.95 crore.

One note on sources: early live updates on October 30 showed much lower Day 16 figures, such as ₹0.69 crore and later ₹3.40 crore. Those were part-day live counts, not the full day. The ₹5.50 crore figure is the full-day Sacnilk figure reported after the day closed, and it is the figure used in this post.

A second tracker disagrees — read both

BoxOfficeIndia24 reports a slightly different Day 16 picture. It puts Day 16 at ₹5.30 crore net, with a total India net of ₹424.27 crore and India gross of ₹493.62 crore. That’s about ₹11 crore lower on total India net than Sacnilk’s ₹435.40 crore.

We are not hiding that gap. Different trackers count shows and markets in different ways, and their totals can differ by a few crore. Sacnilk is the main source for this post because it gives the full language split and show count for Day 16. Readers who follow BoxOfficeIndia24 will see the lower total. Either way, the story is the same: the film has crossed ₹500 crore India gross on Sacnilk’s count, and it sits close to ₹777 crore worldwide.

Our own check: where the total came from

Here’s a desk-compiled split of the ₹435.40 crore India net total, using Sacnilk’s week figures. Week 1 (Days 1–8) gave ₹334.35 crore. That’s 76.8% of the total so far — our own calculation. Week 2 (Days 9–15) gave ₹95.55 crore, or 21.9%. Day 16 alone added ₹5.50 crore, or about 1.3%.

Tamil is still the engine. Sacnilk’s language totals are Tamil ₹301.50 crore, Telugu ₹82.25 crore, Hindi ₹44.80 crore and Kannada ₹6.85 crore. Tamil alone is 69.2% of the India net total, by our calculation. That’s why Tamil Nadu records matter so much for this film.

In Tamil Nadu, the film had collected about ₹195.60 crore gross after 15 days, per Sacnilk. That’s already past the first Jailer, which finished in the state at about ₹189.50 crore. It needs ₹4.40 crore more to cross ₹200 crore in Tamil Nadu — a first for Rajinikanth in his home state, per Sacnilk. The bigger target is Vijay’s GOAT at ₹217.25 crore lifetime in Tamil Nadu. The gap is ₹21.65 crore, by our calculation.

What the first Jailer did by Day 16

The first Jailer, released in 2023, had collected ₹533.74 crore worldwide by Day 16, per Asianet Newsable citing Sacnilk figures. Jailer 2 is at ₹776.95 crore by the same point. That’s ₹243.21 crore more, by our calculation. Its Day 16 India net back then was ₹3.40 crore. This time it’s ₹5.50 crore.

So the sequel is not just ahead — it’s ahead by a wide margin at the same stage. The gap shows how much bigger the opening was this time. Day 1 alone gave ₹59.70 crore net in India, and Week 1 gave ₹334.35 crore.

What happens next

The ₹800 crore worldwide mark is the next big number to watch. The film needs ₹23.05 crore more worldwide gross, by our calculation. At Friday’s pace — ₹5.50 crore India net plus ₹3 crore overseas gross on the day — that mark won’t fall in one day. But a strong third weekend could bring it much closer.

The Tamil Nadu ₹200 crore mark looks nearer. Only ₹4.40 crore of Tamil Nadu gross stands between the film and that first. If the third weekend holds up in Tamil Nadu, that record could fall this weekend itself. We’ll update the Day 17 figures when Sacnilk reports them.
