Quick Read:
- Jailer 2 earned Rs 6.55 crore net in India on Day 14 (Wednesday, 28 October), down 21.1% from Day 13’s Rs 8.30 crore.
- India net total is now Rs 423 crore. India gross is Rs 495 crore. Worldwide gross is Rs 755.50 crore.
- In Kerala, the film has already passed Baahubali 2 to become the highest-grossing non-Malayalam film in the state.
Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 slowed down on its second Wednesday. Trade tracker Sacnilk reports Rs 6.55 crore net in India on Day 14. That is a drop of 21.1% from Day 13, when the film earned Rs 8.30 crore.
A note on the numbers first, because readers saw different figures during the day. Early live tracking gave lower Day 14 figures, including Rs 4.22 crore in one live update and an early estimate of Rs 4.77 crore in another report. Those were part-day counts. The final Sacnilk figure used here is Rs 6.55 crore across 10,542 shows. The totals in this post match that final figure, not the early counts.
Where the Day 14 money came from
Tamil remained the largest part of the Day 14 total. Tamil earned Rs 3.65 crore. Telugu earned Rs 1.50 crore. Hindi earned Rs 1.20 crore. Kannada earned Rs 0.20 crore. Added together, they make Rs 6.55 crore.
Overseas trade added Rs 2.50 crore on Day 14. That takes the overseas total to Rs 260.50 crore. India gross of Rs 495 crore plus overseas gross of Rs 260.50 crore gives the worldwide gross of Rs 755.50 crore.
For readers new to these terms: “net” means the money after tax is taken out. “Gross” means the full ticket money before tax. That is why the India gross figure (Rs 495 crore) is higher than the India net figure (Rs 423 crore). Both figures describe the same ticket sales. They just count tax in a different way.
Why the weekday drop is normal
Jailer 2 opened on 15 October 2026. Its first week was very strong. Its second weekend was also strong. Weekdays always fall after a weekend. Fewer people go to the cinema on a Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday because of work and school.
The fall from the second weekend to the second weekdays was sharp. That pattern is common for big films. The opening rush is over. The people who wanted to watch it first are done. The film now depends on repeat viewers and on people who watch films late.
One more factor matters here. The Hindi version has had a limited release. Trade reports say the film did not get a wide release in national cinema chains in North India. Indian Express reported a trade analyst saying the makers missed a chance to earn more in Hindi, and that a wider release before Diwali could still help. That Hindi gap is one reason the Hindi Day 14 figure is Rs 1.20 crore, far below Tamil’s Rs 3.65 crore.
The Kerala record is the big story
The weekday fall should not hide the film’s biggest win. In Kerala, Jailer 2 has passed Baahubali 2. By Day 13, Jailer 2 had earned Rs 72.85 crore gross in Kerala. Baahubali 2 had held the state record for non-Malayalam films at about Rs 72.25 crore since 2017.
That record stood for nine years. Many big films tried and failed to break it. KGF Chapter 2 earned Rs 64.98 crore gross in Kerala. Leo earned Rs 59.64 crore. The first Jailer earned Rs 54.76 crore. None of them reached Baahubali 2. Jailer 2 has now done it.
This matters because Kerala has a strong local film industry. Malayalam films fill most screens in the state. A Tamil film that tops the non-Malayalam list there has won over viewers who have many local choices. Rajinikanth’s long fan base in Kerala, plus the first film’s goodwill, helped the sequel.
What comes next for Jailer 2
Jailer 2 still has one clear week before its next big test. Ramayana releases on 5 November 2026. That film will take a large number of screens. Jailer 2 needs to add as much as it can before that date.
There is one good early sign. Sacnilk reported Day 15 advance booking for Jailer 2 at Rs 5.22 crore gross as of 6:00 am on 29 October. Advance booking means tickets sold before the day starts. A strong advance number for a Thursday in week three shows that shows are still filling in some places.
The next marks to watch are simple. India gross is Rs 5 crore short of Rs 500 crore. The worldwide total is Rs 44.50 crore short of Rs 800 crore. At Rs 6.55 crore a day in India, plus overseas money, the India gross mark is close. The worldwide mark will need a strong third weekend, or a longer run after Ramayana.
