Gold prices in India edged higher on Wednesday, 4 November 2026. The rates below come from one table only: Moneycontrol’s “Gold, Silver Prices Live Nov 4” live blog, published 4 November 2026 and updated at 8:39 am IST. We did not mix in other outlets’ tables. Other sites show different city rates for the same day, so mixing them would give wrong numbers.
First, a quick guide to the terms. 24K gold is pure gold. 22K gold is the type most often used for jewellery. 18K gold has less gold mixed with other metals, so it costs less. Rates are per gram.
Delhi rates today
In Delhi, 24K gold costs Rs 13,980 per gram. 22K gold costs Rs 12,816 per gram. 18K gold costs Rs 10,489 per gram. All figures are from Moneycontrol’s 4 November live blog table.
Mumbai rates today
In Mumbai, 24K gold costs Rs 13,965 per gram. 22K gold costs Rs 12,801 per gram. 18K gold costs Rs 10,474 per gram. Mumbai is Rs 15 per gram cheaper than Delhi for 24K gold. That’s a small gap, but it adds up on a big purchase (see the calculation below).
Chennai rates today
Chennai matches Mumbai on 24K and 22K gold: Rs 13,965 and Rs 12,801 per gram. But Chennai’s 18K rate is Rs 10,476 per gram — Rs 2 more than Mumbai’s Rs 10,474. So Chennai is not exactly the same as Mumbai across all three types. Only the 24K and 22K rates match.

Silver rates today
Silver costs Rs 1,999 per 10 grams in the Moneycontrol live blog table. That works out to Rs 19,990 per 100 grams and Rs 1,99,900 per kg. The table shows the same silver rates for Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kerala and Pune.
Why prices moved
Moneycontrol’s market report on 4 November said gold traded marginally higher in early trade. Two reasons were given: oil prices fell, and the US dollar slipped from its recent highs. When oil gets cheaper, fears about rising prices ease. When the dollar weakens, gold often looks more attractive to buyers. Investors were also waiting for the US midterm election results and US jobs data.
MCX rates are different — do not confuse them
The rates above are retail city rates — what a shop price table shows. MCX rates are different. MCX is the Multi Commodity Exchange, where gold and silver are traded in bulk by traders, not sold as jewellery.
For context only, and clearly flagged as MCX (not retail): spot gold closed Tuesday’s (3 November) session at Rs 1,37,034 per 10 grams, and silver settled at Rs 1,76,148 per kg on MCX, per Asianet Newsable’s 4 November report, which matches Moneycontrol’s market report. MCX gold futures for December 4 delivery closed flat at Rs 1,39,433 per 10 grams, and silver futures inched up 0.11% to Rs 1,79,891 per kg.
Do not compare the MCX per-10-gram figure directly with the per-gram retail rate. They cover different markets, and making charges and taxes sit on top of retail jewellery prices.
What it means for buyers
Dhanteras falls on Friday, 6 November 2026, Moneycontrol reported. Many people buy gold around Dhanteras. If you plan to buy, check your jeweller’s final bill. The table rate is the metal price. Making charges and GST (goods and services tax) come extra.
Own calculations from the Moneycontrol live blog table only: 10 g, 24K gold — Delhi Rs 1,39,800, Mumbai Rs 1,39,650, gap Rs 150. 8 g, 22K gold — Delhi Rs 1,02,528, Mumbai Rs 1,02,408, gap Rs 120. 10 g silver — Rs 1,999 in both, gap nil. So a 10-gram 24K gold purchase costs Rs 150 more in Delhi than in Mumbai at today’s table rates, before making charges and tax. Silver shows no city gap at all in this table.
Note: Moneycontrol’s separate city gold-rate pages show lower figures and were NOT used; Asianet’s city table was NOT used for retail rates, only for the MCX close figures.
