3 Tiger Shroff shooters held from train in Kota

Three men accused of firing at Tiger Shroff’s car in Juhu were caught aboard the Pune-Jaipur Superfast Express at Kota railway station on Monday morning. Police say the shooters switched off their phones after the attack — but one call to a cab driver gave away their trail across three states.

Quick Read

  • Phool Singh (18), Hrithik Mahto (22) and Rehab Rahisuddin (18) were arrested in the general coach of the Pune-Jaipur Superfast Express at Kota around 10:17 am on Monday, in a joint operation by Mumbai Police, Rajasthan’s Anti-Gangster Task Force and the Railway Police.
  • Mumbai Police say the men fired five rounds at Tiger Shroff’s car in Juhu on Sunday evening before one gun jammed, then fled across three states: bike to Andheri, train to Borivali, cab to Surat, and the Pune-Jaipur train to Kota. They allegedly planned to reach Delhi and cross into Nepal.
  • A social media post claiming the Lawrence Bishnoi gang ordered the firing is unverified. The accused were paid Rs 50,000 collectively for the attack, police sources told TBS News.

The 10:17 am arrest

The train reached Kota station at 10:17 am. The Railway Police Force was alerted, and the three were caught in the general coach, NDTV reported. They were handed to the Mumbai Police team, which got a two-day transit remand from a local court, Kota Additional SP Subhash Chandra Mishra said. No weapon has been recovered. The case now sits with the Anti Extortion Cell of the Mumbai Crime Branch, the Indian Express reported, and Tiger Shroff has been given police protection.

One small detail from Monday evening: the Mumbai team left Kota with the accused, but turned back after suspecting “some people were following them,” sources told the Indian Express.

Five rounds, one jammed gun, three states

Addressing a press conference on Monday evening, Raj Tilak Roushan, DCP (Detection) of the Mumbai Crime Branch, said the accused fired five rounds at the actor’s car. One of the guns jammed during the firing — that is why the men fled on a bike instead of finishing the attack.

The escape route, as the police have drawn it up:

  • From Juhu, the three rode a bike to Andheri station.
  • They took a local train to Borivali in Mumbai.
  • From Borivali, a cab to Surat in Gujarat.
  • From Surat, a train for Kota — arrested aboard the Pune-Jaipur Superfast Express.

The shooters had switched off their phones after the firing. But one call — to a cab driver — gave the police the first real break in the chase, the Indian Express reported.

Police sources told TBS News that the three were paid Rs 50,000 collectively for the attack. Investigators are now fixing each man’s exact role. Kota SP Gautam said the accused were planning to flee to Delhi from Jaipur, and then to Nepal.

Who the three men are — and one corrected report

Mumbai Police have identified the accused as Phool Singh (18), Hrithik Mahto (22) and Rehab Rahisuddin (18). Mahto was riding the bike during the attack while the other two opened fire, police said. Rehan and Singh are daily-wage labourers, while Mahto worked as a Rapido bike rider in Andheri West for about a year, the Indian Express reported.

Two points of caution, because early reports disagreed. First: some outlets first said one accused was a 17-year-old minor. Mumbai Police later clarified that none of the three is a minor. Second: name spellings vary across outlets — Hritik Kumar alias Roshan, Rehan, Rehan Rahisuddin. This post uses the names given by the Mumbai Crime Branch’s DCP at the Monday press conference.

The gang claim stays unverified

A social media post claiming responsibility for the attack on behalf of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang surfaced after the firing. Police have not verified the claim or established any link to the gang, the Indian Express reported.

One thread is being checked. Preliminary questioning revealed that Anil Pandit — the name attached to the viral claim post — was in contact with Rehan, the Kota district SP said, according to TBS News. Contact is not the same as an order. Police will need to match the shooters, the weapons and the evidence before anyone can say who ordered the firing.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said, “A thorough investigation will be conducted to identify others involved in the attack and those behind it. No one will be spared,” the Indian Express reported.
