Gold prices for Friday, October 30, 2026 are out. Delhi stays a touch costlier than Mumbai and Chennai, as it usually is.

All rates in this post come from ONE source: Moneycontrol’s October 30 live market blog (published 07:50 IST, updated 08:17 IST). Other outlets showed different numbers this morning, so this post does not mix tables. If your jeweller quotes a slightly different rate, that is normal — shop rates vary by city and dealer.

City prices at a glance

Here is the full table for the three big cities, per gram and per 10 grams:

  • Delhi — 24K: Rs 14,409 per gram (Rs 1,44,090 per 10 grams); 22K: Rs 13,209 per gram (Rs 1,32,090 per 10 grams); 18K: Rs 10,810 per gram.
  • Mumbai — 24K: Rs 14,394 per gram (Rs 1,43,940 per 10 grams); 22K: Rs 13,194 per gram (Rs 1,31,940 per 10 grams); 18K: Rs 10,795 per gram.
  • Chennai — 24K: Rs 14,394 per gram (Rs 1,43,940 per 10 grams); 22K: Rs 13,194 per gram (Rs 1,31,940 per 10 grams); 18K: Rs 10,795 per gram.
  • Silver — Rs 2,149 per gram (Rs 2,14,900 per kg) in Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai alike.

Delhi’s 24K rate is Rs 15 per gram above Mumbai and Chennai. On 10 grams, that gap is Rs 150. It is small, but on a wedding-size purchase it adds up.

22K or 24K: what is the difference

24K gold is almost pure gold. It is soft, so jewellers rarely make daily-wear ornaments from it. It suits coins and bars for investment.

22K gold has a small mix of other metal. That mix makes it harder and better for jewellery. Most wedding and festive jewellery in India is 22K. That is why 22K is the rate most buyers should watch.

18K gold has more mixed metal and is cheaper. It is common in lightweight, modern designs. If you buy for daily wear on a budget, 18K can make sense.

What you actually pay at the shop

The rates above are reference rates. Your final bill will be higher. Three extras apply.

First, 3% GST on the gold value plus making charges. Second, making charges, which vary by design and shop — simple designs cost less, heavy handwork costs more. Third, the shop’s own rate for the day, which can sit slightly above or below the reference rate.

Ask for the rate per gram, the weight in grams, the making charge and the GST as four separate lines on the bill. If a shop gives only one lump sum, ask them to break it down. That one habit saves buyers more money than any rate forecast.

Why gold is near Rs 1.44 lakh per 10 grams

Two forces push gold up in India right now. Global gold stays high, and the rupee is weak. The rupee opened at 95.22 to the dollar on October 30, and gold is priced in dollars worldwide. A weak rupee makes each gram costlier in rupees even if the world price does not move.

That link cuts both ways. If the rupee strengthens or world gold cools, local rates can fall even without any local news. Buyers who track only the Indian rate miss half the story.

Festive demand also plays a role in October. But demand alone does not set the rate — the world price and the rupee do most of the work.

Should you buy today

This post does not give investment advice. It gives the facts you need to decide.

If you buy for a wedding or a festival, compare 22K rates across two or three trusted jewellers in your city, and check making charges before you check the gold rate. A shop with a low gold rate and high making charges can still cost more.

If you buy as an investment, coins and bars carry lower making charges than jewellery. Keep the bill and the purity certificate safe — you will need both when you sell.

Check tomorrow’s rate before a big purchase. Rates move every morning, and a single day’s move on 10 grams can be a few hundred rupees either way.

FAQ

Q: Why do Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai gold rates differ?
A: Local taxes, transport costs and dealer margins differ by city. Delhi usually quotes slightly higher than Mumbai and Chennai, as it does today by Rs 15 per gram on 24K.

Q: Is 22K or 24K better for jewellery?
A: 22K is better for jewellery because the small metal mix makes it harder and longer-lasting. 24K is purer but softer, so it suits coins and bars.

Q: Does the rate above include GST and making charges?
A: No. The table shows reference rates only. Your bill adds 3% GST plus making charges, and the shop’s own daily rate may differ slightly.
