₹942 in Delhi, ₹1,031 in Patna: LPG cylinder rate today (Oct 15)

LPG cylinder rates on October 15 are unchanged for households — Delhi pays ₹942 for a 14.2-kg domestic cylinder, Mumbai ₹941.50, Kolkata ₹968 and Chennai ₹957.50. But in Patna the same cylinder costs ₹1,031.50. Why such a gap? And what about the new biometric rule in the news?

Quick Read

  • Domestic 14.2-kg LPG: Delhi ₹942, Mumbai ₹941.50, Kolkata ₹968, Chennai ₹957.50, Patna ₹1,031.50 — unchanged today (Business Today, Oct 15).
  • Commercial 19-kg LPG: Delhi ₹2,810, Mumbai ₹2,764.50, Kolkata ₹2,954, Patna ₹3,100.50 — hiked on October 1.
  • Patna households pay ₹90 more than Mumbai for a domestic cylinder; on commercial cylinders the gap is ₹336.

The first thing to know: today’s domestic rates are the same as they were last month. Domestic LPG prices were last revised in June 2026 and have held steady since. So if your refill bill looks familiar, that’s why.

Today’s rates, city by city

Domestic (14.2 kg), October 15:
Delhi ₹942 | Mumbai ₹941.50 | Chennai ₹957.50 | Kolkata ₹968 | Patna ₹1,031.50 | Hyderabad ₹994 | Bengaluru ₹944.50 | Jaipur ₹945.50 | Noida ₹939.50 | Gurugram ₹950.50 | Chandigarh ₹951.50 | Lucknow ₹979.50.

Commercial (19 kg), October 15:
Delhi ₹2,810 | Mumbai ₹2,764.50 | Chennai ₹2,983 | Kolkata ₹2,954 | Patna ₹3,100.50 | Hyderabad ₹3,065 | Bengaluru ₹2,898.

Commercial cylinders, used by restaurants, hotels and caterers, got costlier on October 1 — up ₹62.50 in Delhi, ₹63 in Mumbai and ₹71.50 in Patna. That’s why a dhaba owner in Patna is paying ₹3,100.50 while a household in Delhi pays ₹942 for its cooking gas. Different cylinders, different pricing logic.

Why Patna pays more

Three reasons, and none of them is a secret. First, transportation cost: cylinders travel from refineries, import terminals and bottling plants to local distributors, and Patna is farther from the big coastal import points than Mumbai or Delhi. Second, state taxes and local distribution charges differ across states. Third, commercial LPG pricing also tracks international benchmark prices, and India imports a large share of its LPG — so global price moves show up faster in the monthly commercial revision.

Domestic and commercial cylinders follow different pricing arrangements. Commercial rates are revised monthly with market conditions; domestic rates can sit unchanged for months even when international costs move. A commercial hike does not automatically mean your home cylinder gets costlier.

The biometric verification row

There’s a fresh development worth knowing. The government has been pushing mandatory biometric (Aadhaar) authentication for domestic LPG consumers, saying it’s needed to stop subsidy misuse and make sure benefits reach the right people. But a High Court has now stepped in — news24online reports the court has issued notice to the Centre on the mandatory biometric verification decision, after concerns were raised that difficult authentication could become a hurdle for ordinary consumers accessing an essential service.

Nothing is final yet. If you get a message from your distributor asking for biometric authentication, complete it if you can — but know the rule is under judicial review, so don’t panic if the process fails on the first try.

How to check your subsidy and book smart

  • PAHAL subsidy: check your subsidy status on mylpg.in or your distributor’s app. The subsidy, if you’re eligible, lands in your bank account after delivery.
  • Book through the app. Indane, HP and Bharat Gas apps let you book and track refills — and you get an SMS with the exact price, so no dealer can overcharge.
  • Compare before you complain. Prices differ even within a state by distributor, so check your distributor’s rate before assuming a hike.

CNG and PNG today, briefly

For households on piped gas or CNG vehicles: on October 15, CNG costs ₹86.98 per kg in Delhi and ₹88 in Mumbai; PNG is ₹49.59 per SCM in Delhi and ₹52 in Mumbai (Business Today). Like LPG, these vary by city on local taxes and distribution charges — and like domestic LPG, they were unchanged today.

The bottom line for today: households get no shock, businesses feel the October 1 commercial hike, and Patna keeps paying the freight premium. Check your distributor’s rate before booking — the city average is a guide, not your bill.
