Gold stayed nearly flat on Dhanteras, Friday 6 November. In Delhi, 24K gold costs Rs 14,618 a gram, or Rs 1,46,180 for 10 grams, as per Goodreturns. That is the price buyers will see quoted most often today, the biggest gold-buying day of the year.

Quick Read
- Delhi 24K gold is Rs 1,46,180 per 10 grams today; 22K gold is Rs 1,34,010 per 10 grams (Goodreturns).
- Rates moved barely a rupee a gram from yesterday. Gold futures on MCX fell 1.27% to Rs 1,42,264 per 10 grams.
- Your shop bill will be higher than these rates. Add 3% GST plus making charges, and check the BIS hallmark before you pay.
Goodreturns lists 24K gold at Rs 14,603 a gram across India, and 22K at Rs 13,386 a gram. Delhi runs a little higher than the all-India figure. Mumbai and Chennai match the all-India rate in the Goodreturns city table.
| City | 24K (per gram) | 24K (10g) | 22K (per gram) | 22K (10g) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Delhi | Rs 14,618 | Rs 1,46,180 | Rs 13,401 | Rs 1,34,010 |
| Mumbai | Rs 14,603 | Rs 1,46,030 | Rs 13,386 | Rs 1,33,860 |
| Chennai | Rs 14,603 | Rs 1,46,030 | Rs 13,386 | Rs 1,33,860 |
Those are base bullion rates, before GST, making charges and TCS — a shop bill always runs higher. Big retail chains held 22K gold at Rs 13,385 a gram on 5 November, as per Business Today.
Why different sites show different gold rates
Check three trackers today and you will see three nearby prices. Asianet Newsable lists Delhi 24K at Rs 1,46,290 and 22K at Rs 1,34,010 per 10 grams. Jagran Josh lists Delhi at Rs 1,46,320 and Rs 1,34,020. Goodreturns lists Rs 1,46,180 and Rs 1,34,010. The gap is about Rs 100–150 per 10 grams.
That gap is normal. Trackers use different bases. Some quote retail jeweller rates, some quote bullion reference rates, and some quote MCX futures. Business Today’s benchmark table puts gold at Rs 1,42,750 per 10 grams — but that is an MCX-linked figure, not a shop price. Compare one tracker with itself over days, not across trackers on one day.
On that like-for-like test, today is flat. Goodreturns’ own 10-day table shows 24K gold up just Re 1 a gram from 5 November, at Rs 14,603. MCX gold futures fell 1.27% to Rs 1,42,264 per 10 grams, and silver fell 1.67% to about Rs 1,84,016 a kg, as per Business Today. So futures slipped while shop rates held still.

What you will actually pay at the shop
Take a 10-gram 22K chain in Delhi. The base rate is Rs 1,34,010. Add 3% GST and you get Rs 4,020 in tax. That takes the bill to Rs 1,38,030 before making charges. Making charges come on top of that, and they change from shop to shop. A plain chain costs less to make than a heavy carved bangle.
An 8-gram 22K bangle works out to Rs 1,07,208 at today’s Delhi rate, before GST and making charges. Ask the shop to split the bill for you: gold value, making charges, GST. If the shop will not split it, walk to another shop.
Buy 22K for jewellery and 24K for coins and bars. That is the simple rule. 22K gold is 91.6% pure, and the small mix of other metal makes it strong enough to wear every day. 24K gold is 99.9% pure, but it is too soft for daily wear. It suits coins, bars and investment.
Three checks before you pay on Dhanteras
First, look for the BIS hallmark. It is a small mark stamped on the piece. It tells you the purity is certified. Every piece should also carry a HUID, a six-digit code. You can check that code on the BIS CARE app before you pay.
Second, weigh the piece in front of you. Note the weight on the bill, and match it with the scale. Keep the bill safe. You will need it if you ever sell the piece or swap it.
Third, buy early in the day if you can. Dhanteras crowds peak in the evening, and queues slow everything down. Delhi’s air is very poor today, with an AQI of 389 in the morning, so an early trip also means less time out in the smog.

Silver trades near Rs 1,91,314 a kg in Delhi retail, as per Asianet Newsable, against MCX futures near Rs 1,84,016 a kg — the same retail-versus-futures gap.
Gold has stayed near Rs 1.46 lakh per 10 grams through the festival week. For a Dhanteras buyer, that steadiness is the news.
