Jio Platforms’ IPO opens tomorrow, October 21 — India’s biggest share sale ever at up to ₹30,213 crore. The price band is ₹1,065–1,119, and one lot of 12 shares costs at least ₹13,428.
The Jio Platforms IPO price band was fixed on October 14: bidding runs October 21–23, the offer is a pure fresh issue of 27 crore shares, and listing is expected on October 28. At the top price, it beats Hyundai’s ₹27,858.75 crore record to become India’s largest IPO.

Quick Read
- The IPO runs October 21–23. It is a pure fresh issue of 27 crore shares — no existing shareholder is selling, The Hindu reported on October 14.
- At ₹1,119 a share, the raise touches ₹30,213 crore, beating Hyundai Motor India’s ₹27,858.75 crore record from 2024. LIC’s ₹20,557.23 crore issue is the only other one in this league.
- One lot = 12 shares (₹12,780–₹13,428). Employees get a ₹54-per-share discount; up to ₹2,500 crore is reserved for Reliance Industries shareholders.
What is an IPO, in plain words? When a company wants to raise big money from the public, it sells small pieces of itself — shares — to ordinary investors for the first time. A “lot” is the smallest pack you can buy: here, 12 shares. The “price band” is the range — ₹1,065 to ₹1,119 — and the final price is fixed after bidding closes. Most small investors bid at “cut-off”, which simply means “I’ll accept whatever final price is decided.”
Key dates and numbers
- Opens: Wednesday, October 21. Closes: Friday, October 23. (Markets are shut today, October 20, for Dussehra.)
- Anchor bidding: Monday, October 19 — done before the public offer, as is standard for big issues.
- Allotment: expected around October 26. Listing: expected October 28, on the BSE and NSE.
- Registrar: KFin Technologies. Lead managers: 19 banks are running the issue, SpikeToday reported from the prospectus.
- Size: 27 crore fresh shares of ₹10 face value. At ₹1,065 that’s ₹28,755 crore; at ₹1,119 it’s ₹30,213 crore — about 8% above Hyundai’s record.
What makes this issue unusual: both Hyundai (2024) and LIC (2022) were offers for sale — the money went to the parent company or the government. Jio’s is 100% fresh shares, so every rupee goes into the company. Almost all of it — up to ₹27,500 crore — will prepay borrowings of its subsidiary, Reliance Jio Infocomm. The rest is for general corporate purposes.

Who can apply, and how much
Retail investors can apply for 1 to 14 lots — that’s 12 to 168 shares, or roughly ₹13,428 to ₹1.88 lakh at the top price, the Financial Economy reported. The minimum outlay of ₹13,428 is the number most first-time investors should remember.
Employees of Jio Platforms get a reserved portion of up to ₹500 crore, with a ₹54 discount per share, The Hindu reported. That discount is real money: ₹54 off on a ₹1,119 share is nearly 5%.
Reliance Industries shareholders get their own quota of up to ₹2,500 crore. The conditions: you must be an individual or a Hindu Undivided Family, and you must have held Reliance shares in your demat account as of October 14, The Hindu reported. Even one Reliance share qualifies. The shareholder quota is a separate pool — it doesn’t guarantee allotment, just better odds in a smaller line.
