Jailer 2 had a record to take — and it took it. On its ninth day in theatres, Rajinikanth’s film moved past both Vijay’s Leo and its own prequel at the worldwide box office. The new number: ₹628.05 crore gross. Only 2.0 still stands ahead among Tamil films, at ₹691 crore. That gap is down to roughly ₹63 crore.
Friday itself was a normal weekday drop. The film collected ₹14.50 crore net in India on October 23 — 15.5% less than Thursday’s ₹17.15 crore — according to Sacnilk estimates reported on October 24. (The Day 8 tracker has the story of that ₹600-crore milestone.) The film played 10,484 shows and averaged ₹13,831 per show.
The Tamil version does the heavy lifting
The language split hasn’t changed all run: Tamil first, everything else after. On Day 9, the Tamil version brought in ₹9.35 crore from 4,885 shows. Telugu added ₹3 crore (1,787 shows), Hindi ₹1.75 crore (3,624 shows), and Kannada ₹40 lakh from just 188 shows.
State-wise, Tamil Nadu alone grossed ₹6.75 crore on Friday, per NDTV Profit. Karnataka chipped in ₹3.35 crore, and Andhra Pradesh–Telangana together added ₹3.15 crore. Night shows were the best part of the day for the Tamil version — 50.77% occupancy against a 34.77% day average. Roughly 10.13 lakh people bought tickets on Friday, taking total footfalls to 2.31 crore.

The 8-day week was the real record
Here’s the number that matters most. Jailer 2’s extended first week — eight days, because it opened on a Thursday — netted ₹334.35 crore in India. That is the biggest opening week any Kollywood film has ever had. Friday’s ₹14.50 crore also pushed the film past the entire lifetime India totals of two 2026 releases: Hanuman Ansh (₹341.07 crore) and Border 2 (₹329.43 crore), per Business Today.
Net vs gross, in plain words
Two words get thrown around in every box-office story, so here’s the short version. Net is what the trade tracks for India — ticket sales after entertainment tax, the number distributors actually count. Gross is the full ticket money. The worldwide figure is always gross: India’s gross (₹408.55 crore) plus overseas (₹219.50 crore) equals ₹628.05 crore. Simple as that.
A note on the other trackers
Not every tracker agrees, and the reason is worth knowing. TrackTollywood reports Jailer 2 on a gross basis — those figures can’t be stacked against Sacnilk’s net numbers. One live blog (7globe) also carried a ₹2.02-crore “live” estimate for Friday, but that was a partial, stale number. Sacnilk’s final ₹14.50 crore — carried by all four publications this morning — is the one to trust.
The second weekend starts today. Advance bookings for Saturday show ₹11.96 crore in ticket sales (₹10.33 crore excluding blocked seats), per Business Today. If the film converts even half of that pace through Sunday, ₹650 crore worldwide is on the table by Monday morning.
