Quick Read

  • Day 18 (Sunday, 1 Nov): Rs 11.20 crore net in India, up 15.5% on Day 17’s Rs 9.70 crore.
  • Worldwide gross: Rs 807.25 crore — India gross Rs 533.75 crore plus overseas Rs 273.50 crore.
  • Tamil led Day 18 with Rs 8 crore; Hindi added Rs 1.75 crore, Telugu Rs 1 crore, Kannada Rs 45 lakh.

Rajinikanth’s film crosses Rs 800 crore

Jailer 2 has done what no Tamil film did before. Trade tracker Sacnilk estimates its worldwide gross at Rs 807.25 crore after 18 days in cinemas. That’s the film’s third Sunday, 1 November 2026. The film released on 15 October 2026. It’s directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and stars Rajinikanth as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian. It’s the sequel to 2023’s Jailer. Sunday gave the film a clear lift. Day 18 brought Rs 11.20 crore net in India across 8,906 shows. Day 17 had brought Rs 9.70 crore. So Day 18 rose 15.5% in a single day. These are trade estimates, not studio-confirmed figures. No studio has put out an official Day 18 total yet. Sacnilk’s numbers are the ones most outlets quote, so this post uses them throughout.

Tamil version does the heavy lifting

Tamil is still the engine of this run. On Day 18, the Tamil version earned Rs 8 crore from 4,287 shows. That’s about 71% of the day’s India net. Hindi came next with Rs 1.75 crore from 3,592 shows. Telugu added Rs 1 crore from 777 shows. Kannada added Rs 45 lakh from 250 shows. Add them up and you get the Rs 11.20 crore day total. The split shows how wide the film’s reach is. It’s not just a Tamil Nadu story. Hindi screens alone ran more than 3,500 shows on Sunday.

The totals so far

India net now stands at Rs 456.30 crore. India gross, which adds tax back in, stands at Rs 533.75 crore. Don’t mix the two up. Net is what trade trackers headline in India. Gross is what counts toward the worldwide total. Overseas added Rs 3 crore on Day 18. That takes the overseas gross to Rs 273.50 crore. Add India gross and overseas together: Rs 533.75 crore plus Rs 273.50 crore equals Rs 807.25 crore worldwide. The film is now the second-highest-grossing Indian film of 2026, behind Dhurandhar: The Revenge, per the Indian Express report on the Day 18 numbers. It has also passed Rajinikanth’s own 2.0 to become the highest-grossing Tamil film of all time in India.

Added context: what each show earned

Here’s our own desk maths, worked out from Sacnilk’s Day 18 figures. The average show earned Rs 12,576 on Day 18. But the average hides a big gap. A Tamil show earned about Rs 18,661 on average (Rs 8 crore across 4,287 shows). A Hindi show earned only about Rs 4,872 (Rs 1.75 crore across 3,592 shows). So Tamil shows pulled in nearly four times as much per show as Hindi shows. That gap is why the Tamil version still drives the total, even though Hindi ran almost as many shows. It’s also why the film’s next milestone depends on Tamil Nadu holding up, not on Hindi screens.

A note on conflicting numbers

Readers may see different Day 17 figures online, and here’s why. During live tracking on Saturday, some outlets showed interim Day 17 numbers — ET Now’s 1 November round-up put Day 17 at Rs 9.35 crore, and an NDTV Profit live page showed Rs 10.22 crore mid-day. The final Sacnilk Day 17 figure is Rs 9.70 crore, and that’s the figure behind the 15.5% rise quoted here. One more flag: some trackers, such as TrackTollywood, count box office on a gross basis rather than Sacnilk’s net-first method. Their totals will look different. This post does not mix their figures into Sacnilk’s totals. Stick to one tracker when you compare days, or the maths won’t add up.

What comes next

Ramayana arrives on 5 November, with paid previews on 4 November. That gives Jailer 2 just a few more days of a clear run. Weekday collections from Monday onward will show whether it can push toward Rs 850 crore worldwide. For now, the third weekend total stands at Rs 26.40 crore (Days 16–18). That’s well below Week 2’s Rs 95.55 crore, but Sunday’s jump shows the film still has pull on weekends.
