The music of Dhurandhar: The Revenge has stepped into the race for the 2027 Grammy Awards. The makers have put the film’s soundtrack up for consideration in nine categories at the 69th Grammy Awards. But let’s be clear from the start: this is not a nomination. The songs are only on the entry list now. Grammy voters will pick the real nominees later.
What happened
On October 9, 2026, B62 Studios posted the news on X. Their post read: “DHURANDHAR THE REVENGE for your GRAMMY consideration. Thank you for all the love.” It carried a graphic listing all nine categories, plus a link to a campaign website for the film’s music.
T-Series and B62 Studios filed the entries together. The music was composed by Shashwat Sachdev. It is the same soundtrack that topped charts in India and abroad after the film’s release in March 2026.
What “for your consideration” actually means
The Grammy process works in steps. First, record labels and artists submit their work as entries. Almost anyone in the music business can submit. Submitting is free talk, not a win.
Then the Recording Academy checks every entry. Was it released in the right time window? Are the credits right? Entries that pass this check go to the first round of voting. Academy members vote, and the entries with enough votes become the official nominees. A second round of voting picks the winners.
A “For Your Consideration” (FYC) campaign is how teams ask voters to listen to their work. It is like running ads for voters. It does not mean anyone has won, or even been nominated. Dozens of film soundtracks file FYC entries every year. Only a few make the final list.
The nine categories
The soundtrack of Dhurandhar: The Revenge has been entered in the following nine Grammy 2027 categories, as listed by the campaign:
- Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media – the full Dhurandhar: The Revenge soundtrack, with Shashwat Sachdev credited
- Best Song Written for Visual Media – “Phir Se”, sung by Arijit Singh
- Best Asian Pop Music Performance – “Aari Aari”, featuring Bombay Rockers, Khan Saab, Jasmine Sandlas, Reble, Token and Sudhir Yaduvanshi
- Best Global Music Performance – “Jaan Se Guzarte Hain”
- Best Global Music Performance – “Kanhaiyya”
- Best Pop Duo/Group Performance – “Jaiye Sajana”, featuring Jasmine Sandlas and Satinder Sartaaj
- Best Rap Performance – “Destiny – Mann Atkeya”
- Best Dance/Electronic Recording – “Vaari Jaavan”
- Best Remixed Recording – “Hum Pyaar Karne Wale”
Look at the spread. The campaign is not stopping at “world music” boxes. Six of the nine entries sit in mainstream categories – pop, rap, dance and remixed recording. That is the bold part of this move.
How the music was made
Director Aditya Dhar revealed in April 2026 that Shashwat Sachdev worked at a brutal pace on this film. For Dhurandhar 2, Sachdev composed 14 songs in 11 days and finished the background score in three days, working 21 to 22 hours a day. For Part 1, he made nine songs in nine days. Both albums, released within three months of each other, topped global music charts, the director said.
“Aari Aari” is a new version of a two-decade-old Punjabi pop hit by Bombay Rockers, rebuilt for the film with vocals from Navtej Singh Rehal, Khan Saab, Jasmine Sandlas and Sudhir Yaduvanshi, plus rap from Reble and the American rapper Token.
The film itself is a spy thriller starring Ranveer Singh, with Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Rakesh Bedi, Sara Arjun and Danish Pandor. It was produced by Jio Studios and B62 Studios. Hindustan Times calls it the second-highest-grossing Indian film of all time.
Indian music at the Grammys before
This is not the first time Indian music has knocked on the Grammy door. A. R. Rahman won two Grammys in 2010 for Slumdog Millionaire: Best Compilation Soundtrack, and Best Song Written for Motion Picture for “Jai Ho”. Here is a nice detail – “Phir Se” has been submitted in the very same category Rahman won for “Jai Ho”.
Ricky Kej won the Best New Age Album Grammy in 2015 for Winds of Samsara, made with South African flautist Wouter Kellerman. He has since won the award twice more. So the door is real. It has been opened by Indians before. But every new entry starts from zero. Past wins do not help Dhurandhar’s chances; only the voters do.
What happens next
First-round voting for the 69th Grammy Awards runs from October 12 to October 22, 2026, as reported by the trade press. The official nominees will be announced on November 16, 2026. That is the date that actually matters for Dhurandhar. If any of the nine entries gets enough votes, it will appear on the nomination list that day.
The awards night itself is on February 7, 2027, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. For the first time in more than 50 years, the show will air on ABC instead of CBS, and will also stream on Disney+ and Hulu.
So for now, the campaign is a promise, not a result. Watch November 16. That is when we learn if India’s biggest blockbuster soundtrack of the year has a real shot at music’s biggest night.
