A ₹2 crore devotional film is still earning at the box office in its 10th week. Hanuman Ansh collected ₹1.25 crore on Day 69 (Wednesday), per Sacnilk — a gentle 7.4% dip from Tuesday’s ₹1.35 crore. The worldwide total now stands at ₹439.98 crore, within touching distance of ₹440 crore.
No stars. No franchise. A film about Neem Karoli Baba that opened to near-empty halls — now one of the biggest box office stories of 2026.
Quick Read
- Day 69: Rs 1.25 cr net (Hindi Rs 0.45 cr + Telugu Rs 0.80 cr), down 7.4% from Day 68, across 2,933 shows, per Sacnilk.
- Totals: India net Rs 338.33 cr, India gross Rs 399.28 cr, overseas Rs 40.70 cr, worldwide Rs 439.98 cr.
- The story: A Rs 2 cr film, no big star, still running in its 10th week — one of Indian cinema’s great word-of-mouth runs.
Where the Day 69 money came from
The film now runs in two languages, and the split is telling. The Hindi version — in theatres since August 7 — earned ₹45 lakh across 1,823 shows on Wednesday with 10% occupancy. The Telugu version, which released on October 9 (Wednesday was only Day 6 of the Telugu run), earned ₹80 lakh from 1,110 shows at 19% occupancy, TOI reported, citing Sacnilk.
Read that again: the 6-day-old Telugu version is out-earning the 69-day-old Hindi version nearly 2-to-1. The Telugu audience discovered this film late, and it’s showing up.
Overseas added ₹10 lakh on Day 69, taking the overseas total to ₹40.70 crore.
The run that shouldn’t exist
This film’s box office curve looks wrong — in the best way. Most films peak in week one and fade. Hanuman Ansh did the opposite: ₹1.08 crore in week 1, then ₹40 lakh in week 2, then it grew — ₹10.40 crore in week 3, ₹61 crore in week 4, and its biggest weeks were the fifth and sixth (₹90.25 crore and ₹80.25 crore), per Sacnilk’s weekly breakdown via TOI.
That’s not a release. That’s a movement. Word of mouth built it week after week — temple towns, family audiences, repeat viewers. Sacnilk has now logged it as a Blockbuster, and the film recently recorded its 50th day with collections above ₹1 crore gross — a milestone it shares with Gadar, Kantara and Dhurandhar, per Sacnilk.
Against a reported ₹2 crore budget, ₹439.98 crore worldwide is a return of more than 200 times the investment. TrackTollywood, using its own tracking, puts the film past ₹450 crore worldwide and counts it among only four Indian films of 2026 to cross that mark — alongside Dhurandhar 2, Border 2 and Drishyam 3. (Sacnilk’s tracker-based figure is ₹439.98 crore; different trackers, different methods — both agree it’s one of the year’s elite runs.)

What the film is
For the uninitiated: Hanuman Ansh is a devotional drama about Neem Karoli Baba, the revered spiritual guru known for his devotion to Lord Hanuman. Written, directed and produced by Vishal Chaturvedi, it stars Shobhinaw Satyaa as the Baba, with Chandan Anand, Anil Rastogi and Poornima Tiwari in support. Chaturvedi based it on his book Divine Detour: That Changed My Life.
The film has no OTT release yet — it’s still a theatrical exclusive after 69 days, which in 2026 is almost unheard of.
The Jailer 2 test
Today, Jailer 2 opens — and it’s opening like a festival. For a small film in its 10th week, that’s the real test: when the Thalaivar storm hits, do the faithful still show up for a quiet devotional drama?
The Telugu version’s 19% occupancy suggests there’s still hunger. And this film has survived every obituary written for it since week 2. But screens are finite, and Jailer 2’s advance bookings have already crossed ₹60 crore worldwide. Something has to give.
