ColorOS 17 launches globally today, October 13, with OPPO’s Find X10 series. OnePlus is retiring OxygenOS for good and realme is folding its own skin into ColorOS too — and India was first in line for the open beta. Here’s every phone that gets it.

Quick Read
- OPPO’s ColorOS 17 global launch event is today, October 13, at 2:30 PM IST — the new software debuts on the Find X10 series.
- OnePlus is dropping OxygenOS entirely: ColorOS 17 goes to the OnePlus 15, 15R, 13, 13R and 13s in India. Realme’s GT 8 and GT 7 series join too.
- The open-beta application window in India ran October 9–12 and is now closed — today’s event should reveal the stable rollout timeline.
If you own a OnePlus, OPPO or realme phone, today’s the day your software story changes. OPPO is launching ColorOS 17 globally this afternoon, and it marks the biggest shake-up in Android skins in years: OxygenOS is gone, realme UI is gone as a separate skin, and everything runs ColorOS now.
What’s launching today
OPPO has confirmed the global launch of ColorOS 17 on October 13 at 2:30 PM IST (11:00 AM CEST). The software is built on Android 17 and was already launched in China last month.
The first phones to ship with it will be the OPPO Find X10 series — the software debuts on that lineup in India too. OPPO India has confirmed the Find X10 series as the launch vehicle for ColorOS 17 in the region. The series goes global on October 21, with the Pro Max model tipped to carry three 200MP cameras and MediaTek’s new Dimensity 9600 Pro chip, according to FoneArena.
OPPO says ColorOS 17 has been tuned down to the chipset level for steadier performance under heavy load, plus deeper links between the phone and OPPO’s other devices. Two headline features: a new Fluid Design language with translucent effects and stretchy animations, and an upgraded AI Suggest that recommends widgets based on your habits. OPPO also claims 55.6% better app retention from its new engine work.
The big change: OxygenOS is dead
This is the part that affects the most Indian users. OnePlus announced in July that OxygenOS was officially going away, and every Android 17-eligible OnePlus device will move to ColorOS going forward. There is no OxygenOS 17.
Realme is making the same move — realme UI disappears as a separate skin, and its flagships join the ColorOS family too.
For long-time OnePlus fans in India, this ends a decade of OxygenOS. The company’s bet is that one shared software platform across OPPO, OnePlus and realme means faster updates and fewer bugs. Whether fans accept it is another question — the forums are already split.
Which phones get the beta in India
India got the open beta first. The ColorOS 17 Open Beta programme went live for devices in India (plus Indonesia and Malaysia for some OPPO models), and the application window ran from October 9 to October 12. That window is now closed — if you applied, approved users get the build over the air.
The eligible devices, per Smartprix, 91mobiles and OnePlus community posts:
OnePlus (India): OnePlus 15, OnePlus 15R, OnePlus 13, OnePlus 13R, OnePlus 13s.
OPPO (India): Find X9 Ultra, Find X9 Pro, Find X9, Find X9s, Find X8 Pro, Find X8, Reno 15 Pro, Reno 15 Pro Mini.
Realme (India): GT 8 Pro, GT 8 Pro Dream Edition, GT 7 Pro, GT 7T, GT 7, GT 7 Dream Edition.
Users had to run a specific firmware build and pass a short quiz to apply — and slots were limited, so a high quiz score didn’t guarantee selection.
Missed the beta? Don’t install anything shady from Telegram groups. Today’s launch event is expected to reveal the stable rollout calendar, and that’s the version worth waiting for.
Should you install the beta at all
Honest answer: only if you know what you’re doing. This is early software. OnePlus itself warns that some planned features may be missing, and users can expect app crashes, lag, heating and faster battery drain. Rollback to stable OxygenOS 16 is possible, but it wipes your phone completely.
The safe move for most people: back up everything, keep at least 30% battery and 4GB free, and if your phone is the one you use for banking and work, wait for the stable release or try the beta on a second device.

What to watch at 2:30 PM today
Three things matter at today’s event. First, the stable rollout dates for India — the beta list is known, but nobody outside OPPO knows which phones get the final build and when. Second, which ColorOS 17 AI features actually work in India (AI Suggest’s usefulness depends on app support here). Third, Find X10 series India pricing and availability, since that’s the phone that carries the new software first.

One thing the beta testers will confirm soon enough: whether ColorOS 17 on a OnePlus phone still feels like a OnePlus phone. That’s the real test, and no launch event can answer it.
